EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Six high school marching bands from Ysleta Independent School District have advanced to the UIL Area competitions after achieving Division I “Superior” ratings at the regional contest last Saturday.

The bands, representing Ysleta, Bel Air, Del Valle, Hanks, Parkland, and Eastwood high schools, will compete in Class 4A, 5A, and 6A categories over the next two weeks.

Ysleta High School, competing in Class 4A, will perform “From Manhattan to the Mountains: A Journey Home” on Oct. 25 in Abilene, Texas. The band is led by Drum Major Abril Chavarria and Flag Captains Brizia Enriquez, Isabella Mendez, Faith Leblancis, and Luis Castaneda.

Eastwood High School, in Class 6A, will showcase “Manta Ray” at the SISD Athletic Complex on Oct. 25. Drum Majors Brandyn Sandoval, Julian Monsivais, Anjelina Mendoza, and Ramiro Burciaga IV, along with Guard Captains Dmitri Molina and Trang Pham, lead the band.

On Nov. 1, Class 5A bands, Bel Air, Del Valle, Hanks, Parkland, and Riverside, will compete in Andrews, Texas.

Bel Air High School’s Big Red Pride Marching Band will perform “4 of A Kind,” led by Drum Majors Jacqueline Lopez and Alan Chavira.

Del Valle High School will present “Nightshade Serenade,” led by Drum Majors Julian Gruber and Antonio Morales.

Hanks High School’s Silver Knight Marching Band will perform “Suits,” led by Drum Majors Lily Arias, Kaitlyn Hernandez, and Sophia Ledesma.

Parkland High School’s Matador Marching Band will perform “Trainlapse,” led by Drum Majors Aurora Shindo and Kristalyn Chenausky.

Riverside High School, also from Ysleta ISD, earned a Division II “Excellent” rating for its show “Clear for Takeoff!” in Class 4A.
