SANTA TERESA, NEW MEXICO — Travis Dempsey, superintendent of Gadsden Independent School District, announced his resignation on Tuesday. In a heartfelt video posted on the district’s social media pages, Dempsey expressed his gratitude to the community.
“As I prepare to step away from my role, I want to take a moment to thank the entire Gadsden ISD community, our students, families, staff, and neighbors for the incredible journey we’ve shared,” he said.

Dempsey has served as superintendent since September 2017, following a five-year tenure as superintendent of Cloudcroft Municipal Schools, according to Gadsden ISD’s website.
A Special School Board Meeting will be held Thursday, October 23, at 5:00 p.m. at the Gadsden Administrative Complex to discuss his resignation and next steps for the districts leadership.
