PLAINVIEW, Texas (NEWS RELEASE) – Wayland Baptist University’s Plainview campus will open two hours late on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, and the university’s Lubbock campus will be closed.
Wayland’s Amarillo campus will operate on a normal schedule on Tuesday.
A spokesperson said it in “an abundance of caution and with safety top on mind” that Wayland has made the decision to close the Lubbock campus and have offices at the Plainview campus open at 10 a.m.
The first in-person class of the day in Plainview will be held at 10:50 a.m. Staff at the Plainview campus should report to work by 10 a.m. unless instructed otherwise. Face-to-Face classes which begin prior to 10:50 a.m. at the Plainview campus will offer coursework online through Blackboard. The campus dining hall in Plainview will remain open under normal hours.
Students should check with faculty for further instructions.
