Keller, Roanoke and Fort Worth officials announced delayed trash collections and other services due to continued freezing temperatures from Winter Storm Fern.

What’s happening?

The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex is under an Extreme Cold Warning from Jan. 25 until Jan. 27, according to the National Weather Service.

While sunny weather could lead to minor road improvements during the day, the NWS states temperatures are expected to remain below freezing during this time, increasing the risk that slushy roads will refreeze overnight.

Here are the latest updates for each city.

Fort Worth

Fort Worth officials announced there will be no garbage, recycling, yard waste or bulk waste collections through Jan. 27 according to the city website.

Garbage and recycling collections are expected to continue as normal Jan. 28, while Monday and Tuesday customers can use extra bags the week of Feb. 2, according to a social media post from District 4 council member Charlie Lauersdorf.

Bulk waste will also start Jan. 28 and is expected to be completed by Saturday while yard waste is suspended for the week.

Fort Worth community centers, libraries and book drops are closed through Jan. 27 with no fines to residents, while the A.D Marshal Public Courts Building will reopen at noon Jan. 27.

Keller

All services from Community Waste Disposal, Keller’s trash pickup service, is closed through Jan. 27 with plans for makeup days to be announced at a later date, according to the city website.

The city has not announced hours for facilities like town hall, Keller Pointe, the senior activities center and public library for Jan. 27.

Roanoke

Facilities for Republic Services, Roanoke’s trash pickup service, will be closed Jan. 27, according to the city website. Trash pickup is scheduled for Jan. 30 while recycling is suspended for the week.

All city of Roanoke buildings will be closed Jan. 27, according to the city’s social media. However, the scheduled City Council meeting will proceed as normal at 7 p.m. on Jan. 27.
