LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – It dropped to -2 this morning in Lubbock, as low as -10 at the Texas Tech Mesonet sites near Muleshoe and near Amherst. Since then, it’s climbed into the 20s. Roads have improved some, but with another really cold night in store we will see what melted freeze again tonight.

Specifically around Lubbock, the snow was heavier over the northern part of the city.

While it won’t be as cold as last night, it will still drop to the single digits. The wind chill will be near zero.

Cold pattern ahead
It will finally climb above freezing tomorrow, with a mostly sunny sky. Where heavier snow fell the temperature may still be close to freezing through the afternoon.

We don’t see a big jump in the temperature any time soon. We’ve been watching a storm system for late week/next weekend, but last few days guidance has trended farther east with showers. For now, our forecast is dry.
