LUBBOCK, Texas (KOSA/KCBD) – Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to the Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport after a plane was forced to make an emergency landing due to mechanical problems.
According to the City of Midland, “The inbound plane had mechanical issues. Landed in Lubbock. A plane from Midland is headed to Lubbock to pick up the passengers.”
According to LFR, the aircraft experienced an engine failure along with oil pressure issues while in flight. The plane safely landed at the airport without any reported injuries.
Officials say 36 people were on board at the time of the emergency.
Emergency crews were on standby as the plane touched down.
Arrangements are now being made to transport the passengers. A separate plane from Midland is en route to Lubbock to pick them up and continue their travel.
No further details about the aircraft or airline have been released. The cause of the mechanical failure is expected to be investigated.
