SAPD: 2 dead in house fire on West Side

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — An investigation is underway after a house fire that killed a man and a woman on the West Side.

A call for help went out before 11 p.m. Monday, and firefighters were met with challenges getting into the home due to burglar bars and an iron fence outside.

The two people in the home were pulled from the fire before being rushed to the hospital. According to the San Antonio Police Department, the woman had been trapped in a closet before she was separated from the her husband.

The fire happened on San Dario Avenue, not far from General McMullen and West Commerce.

KSAT-12 reports the home was a total loss, and the cause of the fire is unknown.
