MANSFIELD, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A Dallas, Texas resident died in a crash on Tuesday while traveling through DeSoto Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop G responded to a reported single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 177 near Louisiana Highway 510 around 4:00 p.m. on January 26. When they arrived, they found a 2014 Ford F-150 driven by the victim, John Hordge, 46.
Hordge’s truck exited the roadway, collided with a guardrail, entered a nearby creek, and overturned. LSP said Hordge was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Crash investigators do not suspect impairment; however, routine toxicology samples were submitted for analysis, as the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
State police remind drivers that while not all crashes are survivable, wearing seatbelts will dramatically reduce the chance of fatal injury. Louisiana law requires everyone in the vehicle, regardless of seating position, to wear a seatbelt.
