CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Daniel Suarez, a 39-year-old man, has been identified as the victim in a Corpus Christi homicide, the medical examiner confirmed on Tuesday.
Officials said Suarez’ family family has been notified.
The Corpus Christi Police Department were first called to a shooting on Friday, Jan. 23rd, around 2:45 p.m. near Ayers Street and McArdle Road. When they arrived, they found Suarez suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and immediately began providing first aid.
“When officers arrived, they located a male with several gunshot wounds and immediately began administering first aid,” said CCPD Officer Madeline Vaughn. “Medics with the Corpus Christi Fire Department arrived and transported the male to a local hospital with critical injuries.”
Police said the victim later died at the hospital.
Chief of Police Mike Markle said the officer-involved shooting that followed occurred just minutes after officers responded to the initial call.
Authorities have not yet identified a suspect in Suarez’s death, and the investigation remains ongoing.
