For the third straight week, Texas claimed the No. 4 spot in the AP poll. Texas trails a unanimous No. 1 in UConn, and the Longhorns are also trying to catch No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 South Carolina, which swapped rankings this week, in a poll that collected votes from 31 media members.

South Carolina, Texas and Oklahoma were three of the 10 SEC teams that were ranked by the AP this week. That is a new record for any conference. Georgia joined the rankings this week:

While Texas didn’t make any moves in the AP poll, the Longhorns were promoted in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after their week off. Ranked fifth last week, Texas bypassed a Vanderbilt team that lost by 29 points to South Carolina this past weekend. Like in the AP rankings, Texas trails just No. 1 UConn, No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 South Carolina in the coaches poll.
