Candidate filings have opened for seats in local government and school districts in Keller, northeast Fort Worth and Roanoke.
The filing period to apply for a place on the ballot runs Jan. 14-Feb. 13 for the May 2 election.
What you need to know
Three Keller City Council seats are up for election, including:
Keller mayorKeller City Council, Place 5Keller City Council, Place 6Keller Mayor Armin Mizani is now running for House District 98 and will not run for re-election as mayor. Chris Whatley, the current Place 5 council member, is running for re-election for his position, according to the city website. Council member Ross McMullin, who currently holds the seat for Place 6, will be running for mayor.
Keller ISD elections have been pushed to November after the board of trustees approved moving elections to align with the November cycle. However, former Place 6 board member Charles Randklev resigned in December to run for Keller City Council, Place 6.

Fort Worth residents can participate in a special election for the District 10 seat for Fort Worth City Council.
Alan Blaylock, the former council member for District 10, resigned prior to the end of his term to run as the State Representative for District 93. As of Jan. 27, Chris Jamieson and Alicia Ortiz have filed to run for the vacancy in District 10.
Fort Worth City Council is also considering a $845 million bond for the May election. Council will meet Feb. 10 and the bond proposal will be on the agenda to be approved. City staff held a number of town hall meetings in the fall and winter to talk to residents about the six different portions on the bond.
