LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A new album full of local music releases this week as Civic Lubbock Inc. hosted a release party for the 2026 “Lubbock Music Now” album earlier this evening.
KCBD News Channel 11’s James Eppler served as the emcee for the event. This is the 10th album since the project was established in 2016.
Each year, the album features a collection of current, locally-produced music. Musicians submit songs for consideration and the final group is decided by music experts, including current and former members of the Recording Academy.
The artists chosen for the album said it’s a special honor to have.
“It feels like appreciation from the city for what we do and for all the music that we bring. Lubbock is a very special place, very few places do this and we’re very grateful to be a part of it,” Dayton Cornelius said.
The new album starts streaming Friday on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, where the previous albums are already available.
“This is just an incredible opportunity especially for local artists to really get to share our passion and so much of what we put ourselves into – it’s just incredible,” said Lindsey Bruen.
The accompanying “Lubbock Music Now” TV series starts airing in February on FOX34 News Now.
