Department: Lubbock Fire Rescue

Name: Luke Patterson

Rank: Firefighter

How long with department: 13 years

Roles: Firefighter & Training Instructor. Besides being the senior firefighter at one of the department’s busiest stations on A Shift, Patterson volunteers as a mentor to several rookies, teaching recruits around the station. He also teaches the newer nozzle forward firefighting technique to the entire department and to the recruit class, along with teaching them search and rescue. Patterson also assists with rescue project and data from station 8A. He’s volunteered for extra training at FDIC and volunteered to be part of the training cadre for April’s upcoming Search Culture training.

Personal certification level: Firefighter & EMT              

Honors/highlights: 2024 Firefighter of the Year – Lubbock Fire Rescue. Luke was one of the crew members who rescued fire victims in January 2024 and December 2024.

Hobbies & interests: Farming & spending time with family

Community involvement beyond work: Luke also serves as Volunteer Fire Chief for Morton, Texas.
