EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — In this segment of Community Conversations, the Texas Department of Transportation announced significant closures for the Purple Heart Widening Project that will impact drivers in the coming weeks.
According to Lauren Macias-Cervantes from TxDOT, full weekend closures of the main lanes and a ramp closure are scheduled for February.
Crews are currently working on the future northbound frontage road, paving it and connecting it to the main lanes, which will serve as a temporary detour in March when a traffic switch occurs.
The first full weekend closure of the main lanes is set for this weekend, as crews will be crossing storm sewer pipes across the main lanes.
The closure will affect both northbound and southbound lanes of Loop 375 between Montana and Spur 601 from 3 a.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. on the weekends of Jan. 31 through Feb. 2, skipping Super Bowl weekend, and then the weekends of Feb. 14-16 and Feb. 21-23.
