The snow has come and gone in El Paso, but the search history lives on!
As the snow fell across the borderland, many El Pasoans, as well as myself, turned to Google to find out the answers to their most burning storm winter questions. And while the Top 10 searches during the storm say a lot about what was happening in the city, they also perfectly capture how El Paso handles rare cold weather.
El Paso Was Obsessed With the Weather
First things first, this one was no shocker, when snow shows up in the desert, everyone suddenly needs constant updates. Weather searches dominated the list, with El Paso residents refreshing forecasts, radar maps, and local conditions to see if the snow would stick, melt, or somehow do both at the same time.
Schools and Schedules Were Top of Mind
EPISD and student portals quickly climbed the rankings as families and students searched for updates. Snow days aren’t exactly common in El Paso, so the big question was simple: Is school happening or not? The same went for UTEP, with students checking to see how the storm might impact classes and campus life.
Even During a Snowstorm, El Paso Multitasked
Some of the most El Paso energy came from the rest of the list. The NFL cracked the Top 10 thanks to snow falling on a Sunday, proving football was still a priority. YouTube and games also made appearances, which tracks for anyone stuck inside riding out the cold.

And then there’s the standout: “Google” being Googled, a moment that feels confusing, unnecessary, and somehow extremely on-brand.
Taken together, El Paso’s winter storm searches paint a familiar picture: checking the weather every five minutes, hoping for school cancellations, keeping up with football, and finding ways to stay entertained indoors. The snow may be gone, but the search history proves the city was fully locked in while it lasted.
