Myra Jean Tillman Huff, 80, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025. She was born on October 9, 1944, in Phillips, Texas, to the late G.W. Tillman and Helen Hiatt Tillman Cox.

Myra grew up in Sweeny, Texas, graduating from Sweeny High School in 1963. She went on to earn her teaching degree from Texas Tech University and spent her life dedicated to education, creativity, and family. She lived in Bay City for over 35 years, where she was actively involved in the Junior Service League, Aggie Moms, and other community organizations, forming deep and lasting friendships.

In 2017, Myra and Don Huff reconnected at their high school reunion and fell in love. They married in January 2019, and she moved to Corpus Christi to begin a joyful new chapter. Together, they shared a love of dancing, socializing, and spending time with friends playing cards and chicken foot. Myra became Don’s biggest fan, proudly attending his gigs and cheering him on as his devoted “groupie.”

Myra had an adventurous spirit and a deep love for travel. Whether it was a road trip, a weekend getaway, or a new destination to explore, she embraced the chance to try new things and make memories. She loved finding beauty in the world and was always up for the next adventure.

She was outgoing, generous, strong-willed, and fiercely protective of those she loved. Her world revolved around her grandchildren, and she rarely missed one of their events — always there in the crowd, cheering, clapping, and beaming with pride. Family gatherings were filled with games, laughter, and her lively presence.

A naturally gifted artist, Myra loved to paint — from baby furniture and children’s clothes to holiday decorations and handmade gifts — always putting her heart into each project. She was a devoted shopper who could happily spend hours exploring every aisle, and she had a green thumb that kept her garden blooming. Her home was always beautifully decorated for every season and impeccably clean — complete with her signature vacuum pattern in the carpet.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, creativity, and joyful curiosity that will live on through her family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, G.W. Tillman; her mother, Helen Hiatt Tillman Cox; and her stepfather, J.C. Cox.

Myra is survived by her husband, Don S. Huff; children, Meredith Bruce (Andrew), Derek Brown (Anna), and Donna Neel; sisters, Peggy Ellis (Dan) and Jan Kershner; brother, Bill Tillman (Cindy); Sister in law, Darla Williams (Tommy Jo); grandchildren, Peyton Black, Presley Black, Aubrey Brown, Tillman Brown, Case Neel, Lilian Bruce, Ian Bruce, Ashley Kjode; and great-grandchildren, Sunniva, Marley and Skylar Kjode and Tony Patino. Myra’s love extended further to numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews, as well as their children.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, Texas. A Celebration of her Life will begin at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation or American Cancer Society.

The family invites guests to a reception following the service at Stone’s Market to continue celebrating Myra’s life and sharing memories.
