TX Whiskey has taken its Experimental Series in a daring new direction with Vino de Naranja — a whiskey that marries Texas bourbon with the centuries-old Spanish orange wine tradition. The result, according to the brand, is a bold, nuanced whiskey that feels entirely of Texas.
Blended from five-year TX Straight Bourbon Rye Whiskey and bourbon finished for three years in Vino de Naranja casks, the expression is described by TX Whiskey as opening with aromas of rich orange marmalade and cherry cordial, layered with subtle hints of smoke. On the palate, spiced honey and toasted vanilla unfold, finishing with a creamy, soda-like sweetness. The influence of Spanish orange wine is said to add depth and complexity, leaving a “jammy,” lingering finish reminiscent of a Texas sunset.
“Vino de Naranja embodies everything we aim to capture in a unique Experimental Series,” says Craig Blair, head blender at TX Whiskey. “This blend honors Mediterranean winemaking traditions while telling a Texan story of endurance and the uncompromising character of our land in every sip.”
The offering reflects TX Whiskey’s ongoing commitment to craftsmanship, terroir, and maturation. Drawing inspiration from the resilience of Texas ranchers and the transformative power of the state’s climate, the brand notes that Vino de Naranja is designed for sipping neat, on the rocks, or in a summer cocktail, carrying the heart of Texas in every bottle.
Only 1,500 bottles of this 375ml edition will be available, priced at $39.99, with a limit of eight bottles per customer over a 30-day period. To celebrate the 15th Experimental Series expression, TX Whiskey will host a special event at Whiskey Ranch in Fort Worth on Saturday, Feb. 7th.
