As the Longhorns look to add more firepower to their 2027 class, they are turning their attention to wide receivers. On Tuesday, Texas extended an offer to Texas Tech commit Benny Easter Jr. The Summer Creek High star is one of the best players in his class and is drawing high reviews from scouts.

Currently, the four-star recruit is ranked as the 30th-best wide receiver in his class by 247Sports. They also rank Easter as the 33rd-best player from Texas. During the recruiting process, he has caught the eyes of some of the top programs in the country, such as Alabama, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Kansas, Kentucky, and Colorado State.

Over the last few years, Easter has been a consistent source of offense against every opponent. Through the first two years of his high school career, the Longhorns recruiting target hauled in 135 receptions for 2,296 yards. He also found the end zone 31 times. His ability to make an impact every time he touches the field is why Texas is stepping up its efforts.

If Easter were to join the Longhorns, he would be part of a class that is already in the top 20. The Longhorns have secured commitments from four-star EDGE Cameron Hall, four-star wide receiver Easton Royal, three-star tight end JT Gercai, and three-star cornerback Karnell James. That list should continue to grow over the next two months.

While the Longhorns have their work cut out from them when it comes to flipping Easter they are making their interest clear. Adding Easter alongside Royal would give them a talented duo to go along with whoever else they land.

Over the next few months the Longhorns will be a program to watch. With plenty of holes to fill they have been connected to some of the top players still on the board. They have also shown that they are scared over going after players who have already committed but could be flipped.
