AUSTIN, Texas — It’s Tunes Tuesday on We Are Austin, and we’re turning up the volume with a preview of one of this weekend’s most exciting local music events: the Cap City Community Concert.

Tunes, community, and creativity take center stage this Sunday at the Austin Central Library Plaza, as part of the city’s celebration of Austin Arts & Humanities Month.

The free, all-ages event features an all-star local lineup, including Jackie Venson, The Octopus Project, and Tomar & the FC’s — a soul and funk powerhouse known for electrifying performances that get the whole crowd moving.

Tomar & the FC’s bring a powerful burst of soul straight from the heart of Austin’s music scene. Led by dynamic frontman Tomar Williams—a seasoned performer with deep roots in Texas music—the band delivers an electrifying mix of vintage soul, rhythm and blues, and funk, all with a modern, high-energy twist.

Known for their tight rhythm section, bold horn lines, and crowd-moving melodies, their sound pays tribute to the golden era of soul while staying firmly planted in the now. Imagine the grit of James Brown fused with the groove of Sharon Jones, all filtered through Austin’s signature creative vibe. Whether they’re lighting up local venues or commanding festival stages, Tomar & the FC’s are known for live shows that leave audiences dancing and wanting more.

Tomar & the FC’s brought their signature sound to the We Are Austin stage for a special preview performance.

From the We Are Austin stage, “Tomar and the F-C’s” with “Do You Feel It.”

The Cap City Community Concert highlights Austin’s rich musical tradition and ongoing commitment to arts, culture, and inclusivity. With a downtown setting, local talent, and a family-friendly vibe, it’s the kind of event that showcases what makes Austin the Live Music Capital of the World.

The Cap City Community Concert takes place Sunday, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Austin Central Library Plaza. Admission is free and open to all!
