WOODFORD COUNTY (25News Now) – One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 39 in Woodford County Thursday.
The crash involved a semi and car and has closed a portion of the southbound lanes of the interstate between Minonk and El Paso.
Woodford County Sheriff Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword said traffic is diverted at mile marker 22 / Illinois 116 then over to the southbound lanes of 251.
Traffic will then be allowed to rejoin the interstate at mile marker 14 in El Paso.
The sheriff’s office was called around 12:05 p.m. A semi carrying an oversized load was traveling at reduced speed when it was reportedly rear-ended by the car.
The driver of the car was found deceased at the scene.
Illinois State Police are assisting the Woodford County Sheriff’s Office.
