SH 114 heading westbound near Roanoke is closed at Cleveland Gibbs Road after a freight truck overturned early morning on Jan. 29, according to a Facebook post from the city of Roanoke.

The exit from US 377 to the Cleveland Gibbs is open, according to a traffic alert from the city.

The details

The 18-wheeler was carrying liquid acid, which created a hazardous materials situation on the road, per the post.

The Texas Department of Public Safety assumed primary responsibility for the crash investigation. Northlake, Roanoke and Trophy Club police departments worked together to shut down westbound lanes to ensure public safety.

As of 5:30 a.m., hazmat crews expected the clean-up to take five hours, but the road remains closed, according to an email traffic alert from the city of Roanoke.

Roanoke’s Facebook post urges drivers to continue driving with caution due to overnight refreezing of water, which created slick and often hard-to-see ice, especially on bridges, overpasses and other elevated surfaces.
