EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A homicide in Socorro triggered a standoff in Central El Paso on Sunday.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, there was a homicide on Sunday at the 10500 block of Monte Alto, close to Horizon Boulevard in Socorro.

Details remain limited, but EPCSO said that the investigation into that homicide led to a standoff at the intersection of Idalia Avenue and Piedras Street as investigators believed the homicide suspect was there.

Officers with the El Paso Police Department helped assisted deputies with the Sheriff’s Office.

KFOX14/CBS4 cameras captured a handcuffed man being put into the back of a patrol car; no word if he was the suspect in question.

According to a police statement, the call came in at approximately 2:41 p.m.

The standoff started at around 2:41 p.m. and as of 5:30 p.m., remained active according to KFOX14/CBS4 crews on the scene.
