Stats Perform FCS Week 8 Awards



COMMERCE – The East Texas A&M University football team has earned national recognition following its win over UIW last Saturday by Stats Perform FCS.   
 
The Lions as a team were named as an honorable mention National Team of the Week, while linebacker Kyree Anderson (Cy-Lakes) was named an honorable mention for National Defensive Player of the Week.
 

East Texas A&M came back from being down 21 to beat UIW, 52-45, on the road, the first ever win over the Cardinals. The Lions are now 2-1 in Southland Conference play, with the 52 points being the most the Lions have scored against a Division I opponent.
 
Anderson was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. He totaled 12 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack as well as an interception against the Cardinals.
