Dallas native and Olympic gold medalist Sha’Carri Richardson was arrested in Central Florida on Thursday, accused of driving more than 100 mph.

According to the sheriff’s office in Orange County, Florida, Richardson was accused of dangerous, excessive speeding of more than 100 mph and was ordered held on a $500 bond.

According to WESH-TV, the NBC affiliate in Orlando, the track star was pulled over after deputies said they clocked her at 104 mph. The deputies also said Richardson was “dangerously tailgating.”

Richardson, 25, won silver in the 100 at the 2024 Paris Games. She also helped the 4×100 relay win gold.

A positive marijuana test at the 2021 Olympic trials kept her out of the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In August 2025, Richardson was accused of fourth-degree domestic violence on allegations that she assaulted her boyfriend at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Richardson later apologized to her boyfriend on social media, NBC News reported.
