Campaign finance reports filed in January covering the period from July 1-Dec. 31 show the two Republican candidates vying for the position of Precinct 2 Harris County commissioner in the primary election both raised just short of $75,000.

The total between the two Republican candidates equates to roughly 30% of contributions that incumbent Democratic candidate Adrian Garcia has received.

On the ballot

Republican candidates Raquel Hernandez Boujourne and Richard Vega are running for the position in the primary election and filed their reports with the Harris County Clerk’s Election Office.

Vega brought in the bulk of donations between the two candidates—with a recorded $70,380. Boujourne totaled $4,364.28 in her campaign donations.

Garcia, who first assumed office in 2018, is running unopposed in the Democratic primary. His current term ends Dec. 31, 2026. The elected winner in the Republican primary will face Garcia in November.

Garcia’s campaign donation total equaled $249,110.62, according to campaign reports.

Digging deeper

Heading into 2026, Boujourne raised almost $4,400 from seven local business executives and one retiree, while Vega’s nearly $70,400 comes from more than 115 people.

Vega’s donors were spread throughout Texas and outside states—including Michigan and Illinois. Top donors for Vega include a current Republican candidate running for Texas attorney general, Mayes Middleton—an oil and gas firm executive who previously served as senator for District 11.

District 11 stretches from Manvel, Angleton and Pearland in the west to La Porte and into the city of Galveston.

On the other hand

Garcia’s lead in campaign funds heading into 2026 includes top donations from multiple entities that did not list their occupation or employer in the campaign report. Nearly 38%, or more than $93,000, of Garcia’s total campaign donations came from multiple political action committees throughout Texas and California.

Multiple $10,000 donations came from independent donors in Cypress, Houston, Fulshear and Liberty Hill. In September, campaign finance reports showed global consulting company Apex Innovative Solutions LLC, with a $25,000 contribution to Garcia’s campaign.
