A North Texas charter school teacher was arrested Thursday after being accused of inappropriate conduct with a child, according to a news release from the Little Elm Police Department.

Eric Moore, 30, of Frisco, is facing several charges, including continued sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, and indecency with a child, a second-degree felony, according to Denton County online jail records.

It is unclear if Moore has legal representation.

Moore was a teacher at North Texas Collegiate Academy, a district of local charter schools that operates campuses in Denton, Lewisville and Little Elm, according to its website.

The district released a statement late Thursday saying that immediately after learning a student made the abuse allegation against Moore on Jan. 7, he was placed on administrative leave and not allowed on school property during the investigation. Moore resigned on Jan. 13, the statement said.

“Our hearts are with our students, families, and staff as we navigate this difficult situation together,” the statement said.

According to authorities, Moore taught at the Little Elm campus, and police there said the investigation started after someone reported the inappropriate contact early this month.

Police did not immediately say who reported the incident or provide a timeline of when the alleged contact occurred.

Police are working to ensure the affected children and their families are connected with appropriate resources, the release said.
