A former Pei Wei Asian Kitchen in the Alamo City has been setting the stage for an Austin-based burger chain’s San Antonio expansion, which will bump the number of Alamo City locations to three.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar has announced that its newest San Antonio restaurant will soon open at The Strand retail center on Huebner Road. A news release sent to MySA reveals that customers can expect the location to be ready by mid-February, with an official opening date to be announced later.

“San Antonio continues to be an important part of our growth in Texas, and we’re excited to bring another better burger space in the area where guests can enjoy the creativity, and hospitality that define our brand,” said Hopdoddy CEO Jeff Chandler in the news release.

Hopdoddy Burger Bar has been around since 2010, spreading its signature burger creations and boozy beverages across Austin, other Texas cities and, eventually, other states, including Arizona. California, Colorado, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida and Louisiana, the news release said. The chain currently has 47 locations with more on the way, including the new location coming to San Antonio.

“Continuing to grow in the San Antonio area is an exciting next step for Hopdoddy,” Chandler said.

MySA will continue to provide updates on the new Hopdoddy as the restaurant marches forward to opening.
