Gary Mattison Jones of Arlington Texas passed away on January 19, 2026. He was 72 years old. He was born on January 25, 1953 to parents Kendall K. and Irene Jones, in Bethesda, Maryland. Gary was raised in Arlington, Texas, attending South Davis Elementary, Ousley Junior High, and he graduated from Arlington High School in 1971. He was a member of the tennis team during high school. He was active in Boy Scouts and became an Eagle Scout. In 1977 he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas in Denton, majoring in English. He also completed a teaching certificate from UTA in 1996. Gary married Mary Harmon of Mineral Wells Texas in 1978. They met in Denton Texas during their college years. They were married for 47 years. The couple had 2 children, Astra Jones and Jesse Jones.
