George Dallas Holbert, 84, of Laurens, and husband of the late Nancy Nelson Holbert, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, at Laurens County Memorial Home.

Dallas was born in Clinton, SC on Nov. 16, 1941, to the late Hubert L. and Gertrude Calvert Holbert. He loved music and always had a wonderful time playing his guitar with his brothers and sisters. Dallas could make sounds with his hands to imitate a real train and could also talk to sound just like Donald Duck. He was always the comedian of the family and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He attended Second Baptist Church in Laurens.

He is the last member of his immediate family and is survived by stepdaughters, step-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, his is preceded in death by siblings, Carzell Holbert, Claude Holbert, Curtis Holbert, Helen Louise Frazier, Norma Jean Hamilton, and Gaynelle Holbert.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 2 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, conducted by Chaplain Donald Miller. The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
