SANTA TERESA, N.M. (KFOX14/CBS4) — The Santa Teresa Middle School was placed in a “secure status” on Tuesday morning after a student brought knives onto the campus.
According to the Gadsden Independent School District, a student was caught with two knives after school staff and law enforcement responded to reports of a student possibly bringing knives to school.
Gadsden ISD explained that during the “secure status,” students were kept in their classrooms and hallway use was limited as law enforcement responded to the incident.
The district is calling it a “secure status” and not a “lockdown” as they said, “there was no threat inside the school.

Gadsden ISD didn’t report any injuries and said the knives were seized without incident.
Furthermore, according to the district, the “secure status” lasted from 11:19 a.m. to 12:01 p.m., adding that parents were notified when it started and when it ended.
