SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — A 10-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a road rage shooting on the Northwest Side early Friday morning.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the girl was shot while riding with her mother and father around 7:20 a.m. Investigators say the shooting happened near the intersection of Wurzbach Road and Timberhill Drive when the suspect vehicle pulled out of a driveway. Police say the mother honked her horn at the vehicle, but then the driver started shooting.

The girl was hit in the stomach while sitting in the backseat, according to a preliminary report.

KSAT-12 reports the father did not realize a shot had been fired until he smelled gun powder.

The girl was eventually taken to the hospital after her parents stopped in the 2500 block of Bandera Road.

Investigators think they have a good read on who the suspect might be, but no arrests had been made as of Friday morning.
