The Sachse City Council unanimously approved more than $3 million in expenditures Tuesday to bolster the city’s fire and emergency medical response capabilities.

Council members approved two resolutions authorizing the purchase of a new fire truck and an ambulance. The council voted to spend an amount not to exceed $2,477,850 on a Pierce fire truck and associated equipment from Siddons-Martin Apparatus, along with $589,686 for a Horton ambulance and related equipment from Professional Ambulance Sales & Service.

The meeting was held Tuesday, Jan. 20, one day later than the council’s typical schedule, as City Hall was closed Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
