AUSTIN, Texas — After a long and very cold week, Austin is finally warming up just in time for the weekend.

Celebrating the We Are Austin way, Sarah Wolf from Good Party ATX joined the show to chat with Sierra Waggoner, bringing along an adoptable pup from Austin Dog Rescue, and a full rundown of what’s happening around the city.

This week’s featured dog, Jones, is about eight months old and currently in foster care with Austin Dog Rescue. Pulled from the Bastrop shelter where he’s lived his entire life, Jones has been under-socialized but is starting to come out of his shell. “He’s already getting more comfortable and curious, even though he’s a little nervous around new people,” Sarah said.

Sarah shared that adopting Jones will be incredibly rewarding. “He loves other dogs, so if you already have pets, he would absolutely enjoy their company. He also needs to learn how to be around dogs, get used to a routine, and walk on a leash — having other dogs could really help with that. He’ll be a small-to-medium dog, probably around 35 pounds, which makes him a perfect size for someone looking for a companion,” she said.

The pup’s calm demeanor and unique markings make him even more special. “He doesn’t really bark much, which is nice. He has this beautiful white streak, and he’s kind of tall in the front legs but has a small body. This also shows why fostering and socializing dogs is so important. If you’re not ready to commit to a dog for life, even fostering for a couple of weeks can make a huge difference — getting him out of the shelter, helping him get used to being touched and handled. It does wonders for the dog, and you’re doing a really good thing,” Sarah explained.
