COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – The Board of Regents are set to meet next week in their first meeting of 2026.
One item on the docket is the semiconductor institute planned for the RELLIS campus. Construction on the roughly $205 million dollar project is set to begin this March, but regents could vote to increase the overall budget for the project at next week’s meeting.
The over 70,000 square foot facility has been in the works for years, and is expected to be completed in phases, with majority of the project slated to be completed in early 2028.
The first phase of the institute will focus on upgrading the storm drainage system needed to support the facility.
The Board could allocate over $160 million dollars to the project, bringing the total project budget for the first phase up to nearly $180 million dollars.
