Jordan Anderson moved from the West Coast to the Austin area in 2018. After a decade-long hiatus from the service industry, he began working as an assistant manager at the Arboretum Jason’s Deli in Austin.
The Cedar Park deli officially opened in 2018, bringing sandwiches, salads, bowls, pastas and desserts to community members—Anderson took over as managing partner of the location in November 2023.
“We are here to stay,” Anderson said. “We are going to be here for a very long time. We love being a part of this community.”

The most popular menu items are specialty sandwiches like the California Club and Ruben The Great, baked potatoes, broccoli cheese soup and the salad bar.
“You’re not going to find a bad item on that menu,” Anderson said. “All of our ingredients are top of the line [and] we serve fresh, great food.
Anderson’s favorite hand-held, is the Club Royale, made with smoked turkey, ham, bacon, cheddar and swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato and honey mustard on a croissant.
Giving back
All Jason’s Deli locations offer discounted pricing for schools, churches and other local organizations on menu items like boxed lunches. As part of the Community Partners Program, the Cedar Park location supplies local schools with meals for game day events and sports programs.
“We make sure that we’re here to serve [the community] whenever they need us,” Anderson said.

The celebration
Jason’s Deli is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026, commemorating half a century of service. The family-owned restaurant chain was founded in Beaumont, Texas, by Joe Tortorice Jr., and has now grown to include over 235 locations across the country, according to a news release.
In honor of the anniversary, the restaurant is adding new menu items like the Deli-Bration Cookie and bringing back old favorites such as the Deli Cowboy pit-smoked beef brisket sandwich.
Who it’s for
At Jason’s Deli, employees are focused on “fanatical” customer engagement, Anderson said. One thing that helps staff members connect with the community is building personal relationships with customers beyond a transaction, he explained.
“Our customers are everything, and we are eternally grateful for every person that walks into this store and we will do everything we can to show that,” Anderson said.
