FORT WORTH – Frances Elwanda Rice Abney, 82, passed away on January 25, 2026. Frances was born August 22, 1943, in Dallas, Texas, to parents, Graceton Rice and Johnnie Faye Taylor-Rice. She graduated from C.F. Brewer High School in White Settlement, Texas, and enlisted in the Army, where she met and married Darrell Wayne Abney. They had a son together named Jarrell Wayne Abney. She was a Data Entry Clerk for most of her career and enjoyed playing bingo and traveling with Darrell. Frances was also a breast cancer survivor. She will be laid to rest in Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Frances is survived by her son, Jarrell Abney; brothers, Roger and Raymond Rice; and sister-in-law, Susan Rice.
