Blake Krass provides his preview, prediction and pick for Saturday’s college basketball game between Texas A&M and Georgia.
The Georgia Bulldogs host the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday afternoon in an SEC college basketball matchup. The game tips off at 1:00 p.m. ET in Athens, Georgia.
The Bulldogs are listed as 3.5-point favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook with the total set at O/U 173.5 points. Below is my full preview, prediction and pick for this SEC college basketball matchup.
Georgia vs. Texas A&M prediction, preview
The Georgia Bulldogs are one of the most exciting teams in college football. They rank second in the nation in scoring with 93 points per game. Georgia wants to get out and run. They will either take it to the rim and get fouled or shoot from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs rank second in the conference in free throw attempts and third in three-point attempts. They rank sixth in the nation in adjusted tempo, and if teams allow them to dictate the pace, very few groups can keep up with them. However, the Bulldogs are on a two-game losing streak coming into this game. If they want to be in the Big Dance in a few weeks, they need to string together a few good wins.
Texas A&M has been fantastic in SEC play. The Aggies started the season slowly, taking some bad out-of-conference losses to Oklahoma State and UCF. However, they have been playing high-level basketball in conference play. The Aggies are somehow still unranked, but sit atop the SEC standings with a 6-1 conference record. Texas A&M’s only loss in conference play came in double overtime on the road against a ranked Tennessee group. Their last non-conference loss also came in overtime against SMU. That means the Aggies have not lost in regulation since November 14th, their fourth game of the season.
Georgia vs. Texas A&M pick
My best bet for this game is for Georgia and Texas A&M to go over the listed total of 173.5 points. This is one of the highest totals you will ever see in a college basketball game, but for good reason. Georgia can score with any team in the country. They have scored at least 85 points in three of their past five games. Meanwhile, Texas A&M also wants to get out and run, often scoring in bunches. The Aggies have scored at least 82 points in five of their past six games. These are two of the highest-paced teams in the country. Neither of them has any interest in slowing things down and making this a half-court game. Georgia ranks sixth in the nation in adjusted tempo, and Texas A&M ranks 25th in adjusted tempo. This should be a track meet from start to finish, pushing the game over the high total with both teams getting into the high 80s.
Best Bet: Texas A&M/Georgia o173.5 (-110)
