How To Celebrate Unplug Texas Day In El Paso

  • October 21, 2025

Unplug Texas Day is October 21st but you don’t have to wait until then to get out and enjoy these fun things in and around El Paso .. without your freakin’ phone.

All across Texas, not to mention the rest of the USA and the world, we’ve become a bunch of mindless social media zombies. Staring at our phones and screens instead of all the fun and beauty in the world around us.

Texas has designated October 21st as a day to quit social media and shut your phone off. I think it should be illegal NOT to participate in this.

A $100 dollar fine for being caught on your electronic devices on Unplug Texas day would be oen idea. Or, GASP – even worse, a 30 day ban from all social media. THAT would probably do more to keep people offline for 1 day than a fine.

The Texas Legislature has designated October 21 as Unplug Texas Day. Senate Bill 2232 created Unplug Texas Day as a way to encourage Texans to disconnect from their electronic devices and take part in healthy activities with family and friends. – kcbd

Buy A Disposable Camera

Get a disposable camera to take with you since you’re leaving your phone at home. You’ll want to capture some memories of your no phone zone day out since it will probably be at least a year before you do it again.

Being that it’s “Spooky Season”, you could also visit the Haunted Scaregrounds at Wet n Wild.  Depending on the time of year, you also have the water rides at Wet n Wild Waterworld. Other seasonal activities include Western Playland or watching the horse races at Sunland Park Racetrack.

Whatever you do, don’t forget your fur babies. There are lots of dog friendly spots in El Paso where you can break Fido out of his same old, same old rut too.
