LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The #2 Lubbock Christian Lady Eagles (21-8, 5-1) are the Hoop Madness Team of the Week after defeating #7 Midland Classical 66-51 on Wednesday at home and knocking off #1 Lake Country on the road, 55-48 in a district rematch.
The Lady Eagles have won their last five games. Their last loss, at home against Lake Country, falling by just 8 points. Since that loss back on Jan. 16, Lubbock Christian has gone on to average 64.6 points while holding their opponents to only 38.6 pointer per game.
The Lady Eagles started the week off at home on Wednesday where they dominated a good #7 Midland Classical team, beating the Lady Knights by 15 points. Wednesday’s win over Midland Classical also was a huge career moment for Lubbock Christian girls’ basketball head coach Brad Crow, who picked up his 600th career win, all of those coming from his time at Lubbock Christian from coaching both the guys and now girls’ teams.
They then turned around and hit the road to Fort Worth where they took on #1 Lake Country in a district rematch on Friday. Lubbock Christian fell to Lake Country in their first meeting of the season in district play at home, but the second time around, they knew exactly what was needed to get the 7-point road win over Lake Country. Head Coach Brad Crow with now his 601 wins with Lubbock Christian and his career.
The Lady Eagles are a pretty balanced group from freshman to seniors but are led by seniors Tobie McGehee and Katy Evans, who were crucial offensively and defensively in both games against Midland Classical and Lake Country. Evans had 18 total points in the win against Lake Country.
Up next, the 2nd ranked Lubbock Christian Lady Eagles have yet another ranked matchup, hosting Abilene Wylie, Monday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. Abilene Wylie is ranked #12 compared to the #2 Lady Eagles, but are playing some good ball, sitting at 26-5 overall, 6-0 in district play, winners of their last nine.
Head Coach Brad Crow knows his team has to play the best if they want to be the best and the Lady Eagles will look to continue the dynasty that is Lubbock Christian Basketball as they get ready for the playoffs.
