FORT WORTH, Texas – A busy weekend is in the books for UT Arlington women’s tennis. The Mavericks (0-3) dropped their match against the TCU Horned Frogs in a 4-0 sweep. TCU (2-1) ends a run of three consecutive Big 12 opponents to open the season for UTA.

The Horned Frogs picked up a quick point in doubles action after getting a 6-0 win on Court 1 and a 6-1 victory on Court 2. The match on Court 3 was left unfinished with TCU’s duo of Letizia Corsini and Natalie Salkova ahead of UTA’s Tasmine Ahamout and Natalia Gonzalez 5-2.

In singles action, Gonzalez fell to Cayetana Gay on Court 3 in straight sets to give the Horned Frogs their second point. Corsini picked up TCU’s third point soon after with a victory on Court 5 over Sofia Selle. The match came to an end when Yu-Chin Tsai picked up a win on Court 2 over Elizaveta Mladentseva after a hard-fought second set. Among the matches left unfinished, UTA’s Vanja Cado battled Cristina Ramos — the ITA No. 103 ranked singles player — in a hotly-contested bout, winning six games across a pair of sets before the matchup was called.

UTA will be back in action when it hosts a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington. The Mavericks will first play UT Dallas before facing Lubbock Christian in the afternoon.
