Crews responding to abandoned apartment fire in southeast Austin

Austin fire crews are on scene Monday morning at the 1700 block of Burton Dr.

AUSTIN, Texas — Crews are responding to a fire Monday morning at an abandoned apartment building in southeast Austin. 

The Austin Fire Department (AFD) said responders received a call at around 8 a.m. about the fire at the 1700 block of Burton Dr.

AFD said the building partially collapsed and the cause of the fire is currently unknown at this time. 

It’s uncertain whether anyone was inside the apartment complex when the fire began. AFD is set to provide more information during a media briefing at 9:40 a.m.
