LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Red Raiders took down the Wichita State Shockers with an electric finish on Saturday afternoon at the Lubbock Country Club.
 
The Red Raiders (2-2) opened the match strong on courts one and two with back-to-back doubles wins. Thiago Guglieri and Arsic began the match with a decisive 6-2 win on court one over the Shockers pair of Luke Bracks and Alejandro Jacome. Shortly after, Sebastian Abboud and Tyler Stewart paired up to take down Pablo Roche Alcaya and Zaid Al Mashni on court two, 6-4.
 
The intensity did not let up in singles play as  Felipe Pagnacco defeated Jacome on court three in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. Ludovico Vaccari followed with another incredible performance, securing the first ranked singles win of his career by defeating No. 66 Al Mashni, 6-3, 6-7 (6), 5-0 (retired). Arsic then clinched the match for the Red Raiders at court one, outlasting Ilias Worthington in a pair of tight sets, 7-6 (6), 7-5.
 
After play was finished, Abboud was ahead in his match on court four against Alcaya, 6-7 (7), 6-3, 3-1, and Thomas Van Den Dooren was tied on court five, 4-4, against Amir Mulishev, both resulting in unfinished matches.
 
Up next, the Red Raiders are back at the McLeod Tennis Center on Saturday, Feb. 7 for a doubleheader against New Mexico State and UTRGV.
