Tyler joins Dallas, Mesquite schools; Lufkin in 9-team district

AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – The Tyler High Lions are headed west, while the Lufkin Panthers are headed south after the UIL released its district realignments Monday.

Tyler High joins District 7-5A Division I. The Lions will play against Crandall, Dallas Adams, Dallas Sunset, Dallas White, Mesquite, North Mesquite and West Mesquite. None of these opponents were in Tyler High’s district in the previous cycle.

Lufkin is in District 9-5A Division I. The Panthers will play Baytown Goose Creek Memorial, Baytown Sterling, Beaumont United, Beaumont West Brook, Galveston Ball, La Porte, New Caney and Port Arthur Memorial. In the previous alignment, Lufkin played Baytown Sterling, Beaumont United, Beaumont West Brook, Galveston Ball and Port Arthur Memorial.

District 9-5A D1 includes Lufkin
