Since the filing period opened Jan. 14, three candidates have filed to run for Allen City Council seats in the May election, City Secretary Shelley George said.
The specifics
Allen Mayor Baine Brooks is completing his final term in the seat and cannot run for reelection based on the city’s ordinances for term limits.
Two candidates have filed for the mayoral race so far:
Chris SchulmeisterDavid ShaferTommy Baril currently sits in Place 2 and is running for reelection. He is running unopposed at this time.

Dates to know
Filing ends at 5 p.m. Feb. 13, and the drawing for a place on the ballot will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 20, George said.
Election day is May 2. Early voting begins April 20 and ends April 28, per the Texas Secretary of State’s website.
