Broadcast Journalism – Grades 8-12
Students will focus on the importance of storytelling in digital media and broadcasting to help them channel challenging concepts into a form of creative expression. Students will produce digital news stories, learn journalism, videography, editing, and storytelling to amplify their voices.
Taught by: Frank Darko/ Photographer, Cinematographer, Filmmaker at Darko Media Lab. Frank Darko is an award-winning filmmaker, director of photography, and camera operator based in Dallas, Texas. He is known for championing bold, interdisciplinary storytelling, from founding and directing the experimental gallery PARIAH to creating award-winning commercial campaigns and the documentary Junior Players: Beyond the Prison Pipeline. Frank is currently in production as Director of Photography on the feature film Sunday Seduction.
