An inmate at the Tarrant County Jail briefly escaped custody Monday while being transported.

Authorities said the escape happened while inmates were being transported. The sheriff’s office said an inmate, identified as 27-year-old Carlos Enrique Rodriguez Romero, ran off near the 4600 block of Mark IV Parkway.

Police said Romero was wearing only boxers and an undershirt and may have been barefoot.

He was found a short time later in a nearby trailer park.

Jail records show Romero was booked on Dec. 4, 2025, and is accused of two counts of felony aggravated robbery and tampering with a government record.

Romero is still awaiting trial.

Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted in the search and capture, police said.
