HOUSTON – Houston police are awaiting autopsy results after a deceased man was recovered from Buffalo Bayou Monday morning near the Port of Houston.
Around 9:30 a.m. on February 2, HPD officers responded to a call of a “body found” at 8300 High Level Road, according to the Houston Police Department’s Public Information Office.
The scene had been cleared when KPRC 2’s Sky 2 Chopper arrived at around 11 a.m.
Police said HPD’s Dive Team recovered the body of a 62-year-old man from the water around 9:35 a.m. His identity and official cause of death are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Investigators said the man appeared to have been dressed for fishing in cold weather, wearing multiple layers of clothing.
HPD Homicide Division Sgt. M. Brady and Sgt. M. Casso reported there were no obvious signs of foul play.
Detectives later learned the man had previously been reported missing and was last seen fishing at the same location on Monday, January 26. Police said the man’s vehicle and fishing equipment were found nearby along the shoreline.
The investigation remains ongoing pending autopsy results from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
