LAKE CHARLES–  McNeese women’s tennis wasted little time in picking up a 7-0 win over Lubbock Christian (0-4) Monday by winning every set in straight sets to improve to 3-0 on the season.  The match is the last home match for the Cowgirls until its March 7 Southland Conference home opening match against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
 
McNeese opened the match 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point.  The No. 2 doubles team (Salome Fluri/Erica Hagi) picked up the first doubles win by the score of 6-0.  The No. 1 team (Elena Morales/Stella Rundova) clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win.
 
The Cowgirls went on to win all six singles matches in straight sets to remain undefeated on the season.
 
Morales picked up a 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6, Ana Hollweg won her match 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 singles and Fluri clinched the overall match at No. 1 with a 6-1-6-0 win.  With the win, Fluri extended her winning streak to 22 matches.
 
Other results for the Cowgirls had Rundova winning her match 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, Hagi picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win on court 4, and Alexas Martinez ended the scoring with a 6-3, 6-4 win on court 2.
 
McNeese will play its next 10 matches on the road.  The Cowgirls will travel to Stephenville, Texas this weekend for matches against Oral Roberts, Collin College and Tarleton State.  McNeese will play at Abilene Christian on Monday Feb. 9.
