LUBBOCK – Texas Tech is at No. 13 in this week’s Associated Press Men’s Basketball Top 25 to extend their program record to 22 straight appearances in the AP Top 25. The Red Raiders (16-5, 6-2 Big 12) are 11-0 at home this season going into a nationally-ranked matchup against No. 11 Kansas at 8 p.m. tonight at United Supermarkets Arena. The Jayhawks (16-5, 6-2 Big 12) moved up three spots in the rankings after extending a five-game winning streak with win over BYU last Saturday.

Along with the AP Top 25, Texas Tech comes in at No. 13 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, No. 19 in the NCAA NET and No. 20 in the Kenpom ratings. The Red Raiders, who had a five-game winning streak end with a road loss at UCF last Saturday, had earned a 90-86 win over then-No.6 Houston at United Supermarkets Arena the week before to secure their second win over a top 10 opponent this season. Tech is currently 3-4 against ranked opponents this season going into tonight’s matchup against KU.

No. 1 Arizona (22-0) remains the top-ranked team in the nation and is followed by No. 2 Michigan (20-1), No. 3 UConn (21-1), No. 4 Duke (20-1) and No. 5 Illinois in the top 5. The Big 12 is also represented by No. 7 Iowa State (20-2), No. 8 Houston (19-2) and No. 16 BYU (17-4).

RED RAIDER RANKING STREAK

Texas Tech was unranked for the majority of the 2024-25 season but would rise to No. 8 in the final rankings after advancing to the Elite Eight. This year’s team was ranked No. 10 in the AP Top 25 Preseason Poll for its highest preseason ranking in program history. The program is now on its longest streak with 22 straight appearances in the AP Top 25.
