EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 34-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly tried to run away after investigators said he caused a crash by driving drunk and on the wrong side of the road.
According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, on Saturday, Fili Alberto Garibay was driving a 2018 BMW 330i going the wrong way when he crashed into a 2016 Chevrolet Spark on Transmountain Road (Loop 375 mile marker 19) at around 9:30 p.m.
Garibay reportedly tried to run after the crash and was held by bystanders until authorities arrived.

Deputies with the Sheriff’s office and officers with the El Paso Police Department responded to the crash.
According to jail records, Garibay was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail on Sunday, where he was charged with DWI/open alcohol container.
Jail records show that as of Monday morning, Garibay remains in jail on a $20,000 bond.
